Helpful Hints For Submitting A Proposal

Be sure to review the "Promotion Guidelines" and "FAQs" before starting your proposal.
The chart below can be printed and used as a guide for crafting your proposal.

Description of Steps

 Helpful Hints
Name the Proposal

Each proposal must be uniquely named.

  • Keep the name brief, but descriptive.
  • Include the city if possible (e.g., St Louis Film Festival).
  • Make note of the exact name you choose, so your proposal can be retrieved.
Step 1    Event Details

Include details about the promotional opportunity and its audience.

  • Answer each question as completely as possible.
  • Choose the AA destination closest to your event. This will help us route your proposal to the person responsible for that area.
  • Select an event date from the Calendar. For events with multiple dates, choose the start date.
Step 2    Your Needs

What do you need from American Airlines?

  • Place the number of tickets you are requesting in the field next to the description of the destination and class of service. Note: AA rarely extends First Class or Business Class transportation for promotions.
  • Because First Class, Business Class and international or Hawaii tickets have more value, we look to receive more value in return.
  • We must know how the tickets will be used.
Step 3    Advertising

Include details about the advertising support for your event and how American Airlines will participate in that advertising.

  • Click the button for the various media types related to advertising your event. Each button links to information particular to that media type.
  • Be as accurate as possible.
  • Value is what the spot or ad would cost (i.e., 50 radio spots on a station are worth $10,000). The media outlet can help you with this.
  • The percent for AA is how much time or space we get (i.e., in a 60-second radio spot, we get 6 seconds, or 10%).
Step 4    Considerations

Include any other supporting information about your event for American Airlines to consider.

  • Use the additional comments section to tell us any more information about the event.
  • You can attach Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF documents. Examples of advertising are helpful to us.
Save or Submit

Once the form is completed, the proposal can be saved or submitted.

If Saved

  • The proposal can be retrieved later and be added to or modified.
  • To retrieve a saved proposal, sign in to http://www.aa-pro.com using your email address and password. Click on the "Review Proposals" button, select the proposal you wish to modify, and repeat steps 2 through 6.
If Submitted

  • Once submitted, a proposal cannot be modified until American Airlines has reviewed it.
  • You will receive notification when the status is changed, via your registered email address.
